WHAT WE DO
WWCLA implements community-driven programs that protect wildlife and landscapes, strengthen local livelihoods, inspire stewardship, and build resilience for generations to come.
We support 8 community conservancies across Wajir County, protecting 329,401.5+ hectares of vital habitats. Through wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration, and conflict mitigation, communities take the lead in conserving iconic species like the Somali Giraffe, Beisa oryx, ostrich, lions, and elephants.
We create opportunities that improve lives while protecting nature. From eco-tourism and local employment to sustainable resource use, our initiatives have created 500+ local jobs and continue to build resilient communities that benefit from conservation.
We inspire the next generation through education, outreach, and community engagement. By building knowledge and conservation pride, we nurture a culture of stewardship that safeguards Wajir’s natural heritage.
We promote climate resilience through sustainable land management, restoration of degraded areas, and protection of ecosystems that store carbon and support biodiversity. Healthy landscapes today mean a secure and sustainable future for all.
Through community partnership, sustainable practices, and local leadership, we are protecting Wajir’s rich biodiversity and building a brighter future for all.
